Students at CATS Cambridge are celebrating success in the 2026 Pink Kangaroo Maths Competition, organised by the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT).
The Pink Kangaroo is one of the UK’s leading mathematics competitions, designed to challenge students through creative problem-solving and logical thinking. With millions of students participating globally through the wider Kangaroo Maths Competition, receiving recognition is an outstanding achievement.
This year, three CATS Cambridge students were recognised for their performance:
- Junhong – Certificate of Qualification
- Xu – Certificate of Qualification
- Kao – Bronze Award
These results highlight not only strong mathematical ability, but also the resilience, curiosity, and analytical thinking that are central to success in competitive mathematics.
The competition encourages students to apply mathematical reasoning in unfamiliar situations, developing skills that extend far beyond the classroom. Participants strengthen their logical deduction, creative problem-solving, time management, and ability to think critically under pressure all essential skills for future study in STEM subjects and beyond.
Success in competitions such as the Pink Kangaroo often comes from a genuine enthusiasm for mathematics, alongside independent preparation and a willingness to approach problems from different perspectives. By engaging with these challenges, students gain confidence in their abilities and develop the intellectual curiosity that supports academic excellence.
At CATS Cambridge, students are encouraged to pursue opportunities that extend their learning and prepare them for future success at leading universities and in global careers. Academic competitions such as the Pink Kangaroo form an important part of this wider educational experience, enabling students to challenge themselves and achieve at the highest level.
Congratulations to Junhong, Xu, and Kao on their excellent achievements and for representing CATS Cambridge so positively in the 2026 Pink Kangaroo Maths Competition.
