Dedicated to helping students achieve

The CATS Cambridge approach is designed to provide the best education environment in which young people can learn and develop, allowing them to achieve the best academic outcomes. Through using recognised assessment tools and working with leading educational thought leaders, we are constantly refining our education offering and nurturing students to achieve the best grades they can.

How we bring out the best in every student

At CATS Cambridge we pride ourselves on working hard to unlock the academic potential of students who are ready to achieve. As soon as they join the school, students on our A Level and UFP programmes are tested using the ALIS ‘value-added’ assessment tool. The outcome of this assessment gives potential grade outcomes for students in each of their chosen subjects.

Using this crucial data, we work with each student to create a plan to develop in their chosen subjects offer them guidance in improving their potential final grade. This process enables us to constantly refine and improve the CATS Cambridge approach to teaching and learning, allowing us to work with each student to better understand and act on what will help them to succeed.

The Advanced Level Information System (ALIS)

The Advanced Level Information System (ALIS) is an adaptive baseline assessment which empowers schools to unlock the full potential of students. The ALIS baseline uses a huge data set generated using the actual outcomes achieved by students who have taken the test, going all the way back to 1982.

Teaching and Learning

At CATS Cambridge we get to know each of our students as individual learners so that we can tailor the best programme of study for them. This begins with an academic counselling session to find the right pathway and subject combination to achieve academic success and progress towards their aspirations.

We believe that learning is a collaborative social activity so we encourage lots of dialogue between teachers and students in the classroom. Teachers are accessible outside of formal lesson time with helps foster the feeling of being in a true education community.

Personal Tutors and House Directors

Each student receives additional support and guidance from their Personal Tutor (PT) and their House Director (HD). Both have a good overview of how each of their students is progressing in their learning and also in their personal development. PTs and HDs are there to help if a student has any difficulties and they can help with additional learning support or additional academic counselling sessions

What Students can expect at CATS Cambridge

Subject Support

CATS Cambridge teachers are there to help students progress with their studies. Students regularly engage with their teachers to assess their progress and if extra subject specific support is needed additional sessions outside of usual lesson times in one-to-one or small groups can be made available.

Additional Learning Support

Additional Learning Support (ALS) is available to offer bespoke support so all students realise their full potential. CATS Cambridge is an environment where students are encouraged to highlight any additional learning challenges they may have. Our teachers also monitor for indicators of any challenges a student may have in their own learning. Our in-house ALS team can provide assessments within the school and offer personalised support including one-to-one sessions and tailored examination arrangements.

Immersive English

CATS Cambridge is a fully immersive English environment. All school life, including lessons, are conducted in English, giving every student the opportunity to master the language in both academic and social settings. Our immersive education style nurtures every student to build knowledge, become resilient and achieve the best outcomes in life.

Graduation

All students completing their course at CATS Cambridge are invited to attend our Graduation Ceremony along with their closest family members. We hold two ceremonies each year; one in June and one in August. The ceremony is a wonderful way to celebrate exam success, say farewell to the school and say hello to the next chapter in each student’s academic journey!

Key Academic Staff

All members of staff are there to help our students. We have a dedicated Welfare Team who work closely together to ensure that appropriate support is provided when it is needed.
