Creativity took centre stage at CATS Cambridge as our Fine Art A Level, University Foundation Programme (UFP) and GCSE students showcased their work at this year’s annual End-of-Year Exhibition, held at CATS Cambridge.
The private view brought together students, staff, parents and alumni to celebrate a year of artistic exploration, technical development and creative achievement. From powerful personal narratives to thought-provoking social commentary, the exhibition reflected the breadth of talent and ambition within our Visual Arts department.
A Showcase of Original Ideas
Visitors were invited to explore an impressive collection of projects, each telling its own unique story.
Highlights included an immersive installation examining the impact of nuclear testing, a striking series exploring the toxic beauty of pollution in the River Cam, relief prints inspired by the landscapes of Iran, and a deeply personal body of work reflecting a student’s experience of living with scoliosis. Another project centred around an imagined character inspired by the psychological horror game Silent Hill, demonstrating the diverse influences that inspire our students’ creativity.
The exhibition showcased not only exceptional technical ability but also the confidence our students develop to express complex ideas through art.
Preparing for Creative Futures
This year’s exhibition also celebrated an exciting milestone for our graduating students as they prepare to take the next step in their academic journeys.
Our A Level and University Foundation Programme (UFP) students have received offers from a range of prestigious universities, including Russell Group institutions and universities ranked among the world’s top 100. These include University College London (UCL), The University of Manchester, The University of Edinburgh and the University of Liverpool, where students have received offers for a diverse range of degree programmes, including Civil Engineering, Architecture, Product Design, and Arts and Sciences.
These offers reflect the creativity, dedication and ambition of our students, as well as the personalised support they receive throughout their time at CATS Cambridge.
For UFP student Billy, the exhibition represented the culmination of an incredible year of discovery.
"I studied art for the first time when I joined CATS in September and have learned so much this year. As well as painting and printmaking for the first time, I have discovered sculpture, which I absolutely love. The course has given me the confidence to experiment with different materials and techniques, and I am looking forward to developing these skills further when I begin my Product Design degree at university next year."
Billy
Billy’s experience reflects the supportive learning environment at CATS Cambridge, where students are encouraged to challenge themselves, develop new skills and discover their creative potential.
A Community That Lasts Beyond Graduation
The exhibition welcomed a number of former students who returned to celebrate this year’s cohort, highlighting the lasting connections built during their time at CATS Cambridge.
Among the visitors were Swan, now studying Architecture at The Bartlett School of Architecture, and Joy, a first-year Architecture student at the Architectural Association School of Architecture. Both travelled from London to support current students and reconnect with the CATS community.
Reflecting on the evening, Swan said:
"Coming back to CATS Cambridge feels like coming home. It was wonderful to see how much the Fine Art students have progressed over the past year. The exhibition was incredibly inspiring, and the quality and ambition of the work on display was outstanding."

Celebrating Artistic Achievement
The End-of-Year Exhibition continues to provide an opportunity for students to present their work to the wider community and celebrate the culmination of their artistic journeys.
This year’s exhibition was a fitting celebration of the creativity, dedication and individuality of our Visual Arts students. More than a showcase of artwork, it reflected the confidence, curiosity and ambition that define the creative community at CATS Cambridge.
As this year’s students prepare for the next stage of their academic journeys, we look forward to seeing how they continue to develop their talents and make their mark in the worlds of art, design and beyond.
